Gurgia Charities has been mostly involved with providing financial, infrastructural and marketing support to bead appliqué workers in Tilhar. We have also been providing   training support. Gurgia charities has been conducting training programs for young boys and girls in embroidery. The emphasis has been given especially to the uneducated and unemployed.

Skill Upgradation:

It was being observed that the artisans were losing a lot of money due poor quality leading to delays and wastage. Up gradation capsules for skills were also conducted. In the capsules maintaining design purity and timelines were emphasized.

Exposing Artisans to new and popular designs:

The work being done in Tilhar is as per designs provided by the exporters. The need for innovation in design and products was felt. Gurgia Charities has tied up with other organisations for help in this field.

Marketing and market exploration:

Gurgia Charities began its activities in providing work orders to the artisans from the exporters that effort continues.

Linkages between Artisans and Exporters:

The income of the artisans has been reduced due to the several layers of middlemen in the chain of the work executions. By providing direct links of the artisans to the exporters, Gurgia Charities has been able to remove several of those layers.

Formation of Self Help Groups:

Empowerment of workers is possible if they can be organized in small cooperatives. Finance for buying the material has created the middleman who controls the distribution of work. The fewer middlemen the less will be the exploitation of the artisans. Gurgia Charities is attempting to eliminate the several layers of middlemen, in stages, by creating self help groups.

Our Projects:

Currently Gurgia Charities is trying to establish fabrication partnerships with multi-store marketing chains for the fabrication of garments. Gurgia Charities also proposes to set up computer education centres and English speaking classes.

Gurgia Charities is a non profit organization committed to the upliftment of the zari workers with out compromising on the profitability of the exporters. The organization is working towards creating hygienic working conditions for the workers. It is also believes in encouraging the use of eco friendly materials
